I am an artist & a designer.

My name is Mai. I was born and raised in Japan. I have always loved drawing, painting and making things ever since I can remember. I guess I haven’t changed much as a 25 year-old, I still love it. I am married with a sweet husband, Lance, and living happily in Rexburg, Idaho where he attends school and we now live.

Work

I’d like to consider each project I work on as a peace of art: beautiful to look at, each having a meaningful concept. Whatever the result may be, each project is a learning experience and a stepping stone to the next.

Journey

To be honest, I never liked computers. I felt like it was all fake art…until the time that I took an intro-level graphic design class in University. Ever since, computers have gained my trust. Although my work is mostly Graphic Design, I still love fine art, which I continue to incorporate into my work, as well as enjoy it on its own.

Background

Many people, including my art teachers have told me that I have a strong Japanese influence in my art style. When I think about it, my art education has mostly taken place in Japan.  Starting in my preschool years…Oh, the great memories of crayons, colored papers, and unlimited imagination…

Favorites

I like beautiful things. Visually, of course, but also in many other ways…including music, fashion, good friends, family, and you can’t forget food.
